Introduction

In this success story, we dive into the API adoption process, where our client, 6Profiles, faced the challenge of evolving its API ecosystem. CloudAPPi provided support at the API-fication level by reviewing the current state and future improvements, as well as standardizing both the API creation process and the existing APIs. Finally, based on their needs, a conversational AI assistant was developed for the Bookahospi support chat.

Previous situation

6Profiles was in a phase of technological growth driven by the progress of Bookahospi and the need to expand the use of APIs across the organization, both in terms of new platform features and the company’s own APIs.

Challenges and objectives

After analysing its current situation, 6Profiles faced the following challenges:

API governance and standardisation

The need to govern and standardise APIs with the highest quality in order to consolidate your API architecture and ecosystem.

Integration with third-party APIs

The need for integration with third-party APIs to expand Bookahospi's features.

Architecture review and support

The need to monitor and review the current architecture.

Conversational AI assistant

Finally, giving Bookahospi the possibility of having a conversational AI chat.

The CloudAPPi solution

To address these challenges and provide the best possible solution, CloudAPPi tackled them one by one through a structured and strategic plan.

First, an assessment process was carried out to verify 6Profiles’ current status regarding APIs, development, and architecture, as well as to define potential improvements and the platform’s future evolution.

Following this initial evaluation, support was provided to standardize the API creation process and review existing APIs, proposing governance and APIOps actions that would continue to drive 6Profiles’ growth.

Next, CloudAPPi assisted with the integration of various APIs within the organization to expand the functionalities offered by Bookahospi.

Finally, a conversational API was developed using the OpenAI API, LangChain, and RAG with pgvector. This enabled the launch of a conversational chat in Bookahospi based on 6Profiles’ business documentation.

Results achieved

These actions enabled 6Profiles to continue improving its platform in terms of APIs and architecture, while also taking its first steps into AI-driven processes, expanding its knowledge and laying the groundwork for building new functionalities in the future.

As a key lesson learned, this project highlighted that today one of the greatest challenges in API-fication processes is the integration of third-party APIs that lack proper documentation, both private and public.
