The cloud conversation has changed fast. A year ago the questions were about compute and storage; today they are about how to deploy agents, how to expose MCP servers safely, and how to control the risks that come with putting generative AI in front of real systems. Every major provider has answered with a growing stack of AI and security services — but they are not equivalent, and choosing well matters.

AWS pairs Amazon Bedrock (managed foundation models, Guardrails, Agents) with a mature security perimeter: IAM, WAF, Shield, GuardDuty and PrivateLink for keeping model and agent traffic off the public internet.

Azure leans on Azure OpenAI and Azure AI Foundry for models and agents, with Azure API Management’s AI Gateway capabilities, Entra ID, Defender for Cloud and Content Safety for governance and filtering.

Google Cloud offers Vertex AI (models, Agent Builder) alongside Apigee as an AI-aware gateway, plus IAM, Cloud Armor and VPC Service Controls to contain data movement.

OVHcloud takes a sovereignty-first angle: AI Endpoints and managed AI training/inference hosted in the EU, with a simpler, data-residency-focused security posture that appeals to regulated European organisations.

The pattern is clear: models are becoming a commodity; governance is the differentiator. The hard problems are the same on every cloud — authenticating agents, applying least privilege to MCP tools, rate-limiting and observing AI traffic, preventing data exfiltration, and keeping an audit trail. That is exactly the layer an AI Gateway and an API/agent governance practice address, and it is where a multicloud strategy either pays off or falls apart.

How CloudAPPI helps. We help architecture, AI and cloud teams design and deploy these new services — choosing the right provider mix, standing up AI gateways and agent/MCP governance, and keeping security consistent across clouds. Contact us to build your AI-era cloud services on solid foundations.
